Patchwork: automated lattice surgery and space-time partitioning for real-time decoding
Patchwork is a compiler that automates complex multi-qubit Pauli measurements on surface codes using lattice surgery. It uses geometric rules and Y-extension patches to preserve code distance during logical measurements. A new wavefront algorithm partitions merged sections into space-time regions for parallel decoding, achieving near monolithic performance in staged decoding.
