Scalar nonstandard neutrino interactions in galactic supernovae

Supernova neutrinos are used to search for scalar nonstandard interactions (SNSI) by observing changes in the neutronization burst signal. SNSI modifies how neutrinos change flavor in dense supernova environments, creating a density-squared effect on mass differences. This unique environment allows probes of SNSI parameters up to four orders of magnitude better than terrestrial sources, potentially revealing new physics at experiments like DUNE.
