Surface charges in a Rydberg atom-nanowaveguide hybrid quantum system

The study investigated how surface charge accumulation on a silica optical nanofiber affects Rydberg atom excitation spectra in a hybrid quantum system. Researchers found that this charge causes measurable spectral deformations modeled by a DC electric field, which is attributed to Rb dipoles and surface electrons. Applying an external AC electric field successfully suppressed these charge effects, offering a method for stable fiber-integrated Rydberg trapping.
