Can Autonomous Vehicles Keep Their Cool? A Survey of Thermal Side-Channel and Perception Attacks
This survey examines how autonomous vehicles (AVs) face security risks by linking safety-critical perception to thermally constrained computing. It analyzes two main attack paths: physical adversaries spoofing thermal infrared sensors and unprivileged software co-tenants extracting information from thermal, voltage, and frequency telemetry. The findings show that these interfaces are exploited for both integrity and confidentiality failures.
