Bang-Bang Evasion: Its Stochastic Optimality and a Terminal-Set-Based Implementation

The paper tackles optimal evasion for a target avoiding a missile in a planar endgame when both are uncertain. It proves an optimal strategy always exists and includes at least one bang-bang control policy, extending deterministic results to this stochastic setting. A specific solution, the Terminal-Set-Based Evasion (TSE) strategy, was developed and shown through simulations to outperform traditional stochastic evasion methods.
