Pair density wave and superconductivity in a kinetically frustrated doped Emery model on a square lattice

The study investigated doping in a three-band Emery model to determine if it forms a Pair Density Wave (PDW) or a superconducting (SC) state. For negative oxygen hopping, SC pairing is found between neighboring oxygen sites with dxy symmetry, not the expected dx2-y2 wave. The results suggest the ground state is often PDW, with Cooper pairing dominated by O-O interactions.
