Beta Regression with Autoregressive Errors for Interrupted Time Series Analysis of Proportion and Rate Outcomes: A Simulation Study

This study introduced 'betark,' a new joint maximum likelihood estimator for beta regression with autoregressive errors, to analyze proportion and rate outcomes in interrupted time series. It compared betark against the standard quasi-binomial GLM plus Newey–West HAC errors. Betark provided better-calibrated inference than the comparator across most conditions, especially when high autocorrelation was present.
