Supernova dust synthesis --- Carbonaceous dust in the very early universe

The study developed a self-consistent code to model molecule and dust formation in supernova ejecta from Population III stars. Including molecule formation significantly corrects grain mass estimates, showing carbon grain mass is underestimated by about 40% without it. Mixing and fallback processes affect dust composition, suggesting faint supernovae are key factories for early universe carbonaceous dust and the UV bump.
