High-Rate Concatenated Quantum Error-Correcting Codes for Qudits

The work extends high-rate concatenated quantum codes from qubits to qudits of prime dimension q. It constructs level-2 and level-3 MHC codes and compares hard-decision and minimum-distance decoding strategies. Simulations show that performance improves with increasing q, reaching a threshold of 10.0% for q=13, revealing a competition between syndrome information enrichment and typical physical error weight growth.
