The distribution of violent event and interevent times in conflicts
Studies of conflict interruptions (interevent times) usually show power law distributions when using coarse data. However, when using very fine-grained data from video recordings, a lognormal distribution fits the interevent times much better. This suggests that the common belief about power laws might be an artifact of data resolution or sampling bias.
