Theory of Semi-discontinuous DNA Replication

This work models semi-discontinuous DNA replication using stochastic dynamics of lagging-strand polymerase. It shows that collisions between the polymerase and preceding Okazaki fragments significantly shape both Okazaki fragment sizes and the gaps between them. Increased binding rates, such as from higher primase concentrations, intensify these collisions, leading to smaller fragments and gaps.
