Phason-driven temperature-dependent transport in moir'e graphene

The study investigated how temperature affects electrical transport in minimally twisted bilayer graphene (mTBG) by focusing on phasons—low-energy vibrational modes caused by moiré superlattices. Experiments showed a linear-in-temperature resistivity above 10 K, which is much larger than in monolayer graphene but smaller than magic-angle twisted bilayer graphene. This behavior is explained by scattering mediated by longitudinal phasons, revealing their dominant role in carrier transport.
