Theory of Dispersion and Exchange Interactions Subjected to Surface Roughness in Application to Signal Transmission through a Nanoswitch
The study models a resistive nanoswitch, consisting of a Si cantilever tip and metallic plates, to switch between modes using quantum forces like dispersion (van der Waals) and exchange repulsion. Calculations show an equilibrium separation of 2.4 Å. The paper demonstrates that while the transmitted information signal slightly deviates from a perfect sine wave, these distortions can be significantly reduced by controlling the signal amplitudes.
