Denoising Textures is a Different Ballgame Altogether!
Researchers tested state-of-the-art image denoisers on texture datasets to see if fine-tuning could improve performance. While fine-tuning did boost metrics, it caused models to catastrophically forget their original training data. This suggests that textures require specialized denoising methods beyond generic approaches for faithful reconstruction.
