Similarity Analysis of Blood Count Reference Intervals Across Continents Reveals No Reproducible Population or Geography-Linked Structure and Supports Personalised Values
The study analyzed Complete Blood Count (CBC) reference intervals from 28 countries to see if they showed continent-level or geography-linked structure. While Body Mass Index (BMI) did show clear continental clustering, CBC intervals did not. This suggests that current global CBC reference intervals reflect fragmented historical practices rather than universal biological standards, supporting a shift toward personalized diagnostic thresholds.
