Explosive Synchronization in Inertial Kuramoto Models: Determining Resilience in Power Grids
The study investigates how synchronized clusters form and spread in power grids modeled by a second-order explosive Kuramoto model. It reveals two distinct growth paths: population-driven propagation from the center of the power distribution or coupling-driven propagation from its tails. The findings show that resilience and recovery mechanisms depend entirely on which pathway is active, determined by system parameters like inertia.
