Topological phases of polyacenes
This study investigates topological properties in polyacenes, 1D analogues of graphene. It analyzes cis- and trans-polyacene isomers, finding that trans-polyacetylene is topologically nontrivial with a nonzero winding number. Modifications like adding intracell hopping terms to cis-polyacene can induce topological phases and zero/nonzero energy edge states.
