Researchers developed an attention-based Neural Network Variational Monte Carlo (NN-VMC) method to study interacting electrons in three-dimensional quantum wells. The AI revealed a new quantum phase called the electronic quasicrystal in the emergent bilayer regime, showing how well thickness and electron density drive transitions between metallic, crystal, and quasicrystalline states.
