Interlayer hybridization enables superconductivity in bilayer nickelates
Researchers investigated how interlayer hybridization drives superconductivity in bilayer nickelates by tuning film thickness and growth conditions. They used XAS and RIXS to show that superconductivity emerges only when coherent dz2–pz–dz2 interlayer hybridization develops, which controls carrier density and correlation strength.
