Gravitational wave detectability range informed by external messengers
The Targeted Detectability Range (TDR) is a tool to estimate how likely a gravitational wave signal from an astronomical transient is to be detected by current detectors. It uses information from the electromagnetic counterpart, such as sky location and inclination constraints, combined with physical limits on component masses. This method provides a more realistic estimate of detectability than standard calculations.
