FinMoji: A Framework for Emoji-driven Sentiment Analysis in Financial Social Media
The study tested whether emojis alone can accurately predict financial sentiment from StockTwits posts compared to text-based analysis. While emoji-only models achieved an F1 score of 0.75, they were much faster and required less data than combined models (F1 0.88). Certain emojis show over 90% accuracy in predicting market trends, suggesting emojis are powerful, efficient proxies for investor emotion.
