Unique Charge-density-wave Order and Fluctuation-induced Phonon Softening in the Optimally-doped Trilayer Cuprate Bi 2 Sr 2 Ca 2 Cu 3 O 10+ delta

Researchers studied Bi2Sr2Ca2Cu3O10+δ, a trilayer cuprate optimized for superconductivity, to understand charge-density-wave (CDW) order. They found short-range CDW order at a specific wavevector qCDW = (0.25, 0) coexisting with superconductivity up to 24 K. They also resolved how CDW fluctuations interact with phonons, showing that the phonon softening is driven by this coupling.
