Near-infrared magnetic linear and non-reciprocal directional dichroism in the chiral antiferromagnet SmFe3(BO3)4
The study used magneto-optical spectroscopy to investigate how magnetic ordering in SmFe3(BO3)4 affects light response below its Néel temperature. It found that antiferromagnetic ordering causes linear dichroism and non-reciprocal directional dichroism, proving a strong coupling between magnetism and light. This allows researchers to probe the orientation of the magnetic order parameter.
