A Census of Na D-traced neutral ISM and outflows at 0.6<z<4
This study used JWST/NIRSpec spectroscopy to statistically count neutral interstellar medium (ISM) and outflows across 309 galaxies between redshifts 0.6 and 4. Findings show Na D absorption is more common in massive galaxies, correlates with dust, and that outflows are driven by different mechanisms depending on whether the galaxy is star-forming or quiescent.
