Matching of signal, noise and hardware timescales for filtering and forecasting of correlated noise signals
The study investigates how matching timescales between noise correlation time, reservoir memory, and prediction horizon determines if a physical reservoir filters or predicts correlated noise signals. It introduces a Forecasting Regime Index (FRI) to distinguish between regimes where the system averages noise versus treating it as part of the signal.
