Probing the Quantized Berry Phases in 1H-NbSe 2 Using Scanning Tunneling Microscopy
Researchers experimentally verified an Obstructed Atomic (OA) phase in monolayer 1H-NbSe2 using Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM). They developed a method to extract inter-orbital correlation functions from STM data, guided by *ab initio* calculations. The results showed the Fermi level band realizes an optimally compact OA phase, providing direct evidence for this elusive electronic structure.
