Surface Stokes drift from compact drifting wave buoys
This research used compact drifting wave buoys to estimate surface Stokes drift vectors in Atlantic and Alboran Sea regions by analyzing wave spectra. The study found that accounting for wave direction reduces the estimated drift magnitude by 39% compared to ignoring it. This method provides frequency-dependent directional information, helping constrain ocean models.
