High-throughput bidirectional electro-optic transduction assessed with a practical quantum capacity

The study developed a practical metric, broadband quantum channel capacity (Cub), to assess microwave-optical transducers for quantum networking. They measured a membrane-based transducer achieving 7 kHz throughput and low added noise in both upconversion and downconversion. This capacity shows that performance depends on throughput (efficiency x bandwidth x duty cycle) and added noise, enabling reliable entanglement distribution.
