Distributed Quantum Error Mitigation: Global and Local ZNE encodings

The study compared two ways to apply Zero Noise Extrapolation (ZNE) in distributed quantum computing: Global optimization, where ZNE is applied before circuit partitioning, and Local optimization, where it's applied separately to each sub-circuit. Results show Global ZNE is superior for scalability, achieving up to 48% error reduction across six processors. This suggests that applying noise mitigation across the entire network topology captures crucial error correlations better than treating each part in isolation.
