Stellar Mass Census of S 4G Local Bars

The study quantified stellar mass within bars in 344 barred galaxies using mid-infrared data from Spitzer's S4G survey. They found that more massive galaxies host more massive bars and higher bar-to-total stellar mass ratios. The presence of bulges is linked to higher bar masses, suggesting different evolutionary paths for bar growth across galaxy mass regimes.
