A multigroup approach to delayed prion production

The authors generalize a prion infection model to a network of neurons using a multigroup approach to Delay Differential Equations (DDEs). They derive the basic reproduction number, R0, and analytically prove that the disease naturally goes extinct if R0 is less than 1, but persists if R0 is greater than 1. Numerical simulations support these analytical findings.
