Zigzag Graphene Nanoribbons as a Majorana Platform
The study explores using zigzag graphene nanoribbons (ZGNRs) as a platform for Majorana zero modes by coupling them to an Ising superconductor. Researchers found that the Ising superconductor's s-wave pairing can induce a spin-triplet, odd-parity pairing gap in the half-metallic ZGNR via proximity coupling. This engineered superconducting phase is topologically nontrivial, allowing for gate-tunable transitions to realize Majorana zero modes.
