Entanglement and apparent thermality in simulated black holes

The study investigates apparent thermality in simulated black holes using a chiral spin-chain model of fermions. Findings show that this thermal behavior, characterized by Fermi-Dirac mode occupations, only occurs when partitioning the system across the event horizon. Partitions away from the horizon do not show thermal distributions, suggesting genuine thermalization requires strong interactions within the black hole interior.
