A Reconfigurable Fabric Based Pneumatic Actuator with Button Fastened Constraint Modules for Multi Mode Actuation

The study developed a fabric-based pneumatic actuator that can rapidly switch between four modes: expansion, contraction, bending, and twisting. This is achieved by attaching constraint fabric modules to a buttoned sleeve on the actuator body. The system allows for tool-free reconfiguration of motion by rearranging these low-stretch parts, demonstrating functional adaptability for soft robotics.
