A colloidal time crystal and its tempomechanical properties
Researchers showed that active colloidal particles can spontaneously form classical continuous time crystals by breaking time-translational symmetry. Using squirmers, they observed a periodic rotational motion in a small assembly, fulfilling all criteria for a time crystal. The study also characterized the material's tempomechanical response through a stress-strain diagram.
