Gaseous SiO and Silicate Clouds in Three Benchmark Early-L Dwarfs
The study used JWST spectroscopy to find gaseous silicon (SiO) in three early-L dwarfs using MIRI and NIRSpec. It found strong SiO signals at specific wavelengths, linking them to silicate condensation processes. The results reveal that SiO depletion occurs at different pressures depending on the object, helping map how silicate clouds form across the L-dwarf sequence.
