Systematic non-compliance of satellite megaconstellations with IAU brightness limits

A photometric survey of 25,000 satellites found that a large fraction of the current LEO population is systematically brighter than the IAU CPS limit. This baseline brightness issue is particularly severe for certain constellations, meaning future launches could significantly increase optical sky pollution unless mitigation strategies are implemented.
