LightSplit: Practical Privacy-Preserving Split Learning via Orthogonal Projections (Full Version)
LightSplit improves Split Learning by using a fixed orthogonal random projection at the cut layer to limit data exposure and reduce communication costs. This method projects high-dimensional activations into a lower dimension, significantly cutting communication overhead while preserving model accuracy and resisting reconstruction attacks. It offers flexibility through different server lift-back modes.
