Descalarization bursts from Galactic supramassive neutron stars: a kHz continuous-wave target
The study investigates how a massive neutron star sheds its scalar field as it collapses into a black hole, creating a unique gravitational wave signal. Dispersion stretches this burst into a long-lasting, quasi-monochromatic signal in the kHz range. Detecting these signals requires sensitive continuous-wave searches in supernova remnants without central pulsars.
