Characterization of drive-induced unwanted state transitions in superconducting circuits
This work investigates unwanted state transitions (DUST) in superconducting qubits driven by microwave signals across a 9 GHz range. Researchers systematically identified and classified these transitions into three physical origins: resonant energy exchange with parasitic systems, intrinsic multi-photon excitations, and inelastic scattering involving spurious modes or defects. The study provides a framework for understanding and mitigating these limitations to improve qubit operation fidelity.
