Photon localization: a comparative study
The study compares various mathematical measures used to describe where a single photon is located within a two-dimensional Gaussian wave packet over time. All measures eventually merge into an outgoing spherical wave front after long evolution times. While the Landau-Peierls function shows the largest initial offset, the energy wave function and Hawton density are deemed the most promising tools for accurately describing local photon densities.
