Nanoparticle arrays levitated in a cavity for quantum sensing

The study investigated the collective motion of N trapped nanoparticles interacting via a cavity's optical mode. They found two main spectral features: the standard collective bright mode (CBM) and a new structure called the mechanical mode comb (MMC). The MMC is better for force sensing because it offers increased sensitivity and robustness against particle loss, potentially improving experimental performance.
