Chemical Demographics of Star-forming Regions
Current understanding of complex organic chemistry in star formation is limited by observational biases favoring bright emission lines from a few sources. Next-generation ALMA2040, with enhanced sensitivity, will enable wideband surveys to sample thousands of protostars. This will allow researchers to determine how chemical complexity varies based on mass, environment, metallicity, and time scales across the star-forming spectrum.
