Optically Active Single Hole Spin in ZnSe

Researchers successfully isolated a single hole spin bound to a nitrogen acceptor within a ZnSe quantum well using optical activation techniques. This method overcomes previous challenges by optically activating dark acceptors, allowing for the study of this spin as a promising platform for creating optically active spin qubits and single-photon sources in ZnSe.
