Metallicity does not reorder line-to-line sensitivity to granulation in solar-like stars
The study used 3D simulations to investigate how stellar metallicity affects a star's sensitivity to granulation patterns, which limit radial velocity measurements. The researchers found that while metallicity changes the absolute sensitivity metrics ($\sigma_\lambda$ and $\sigma_W$), the relative ordering of line sensitivities remains consistent across different metallicities and viewing angles. This means solar-calibrated line masks can be reliably used for non-solar stars with similar temperatures.
