On the Upper Bounds for the Matrix Spectral Norm
The Counterbalance estimator (Tcb) is a new method for providing upper bounds on a matrix's spectral norm using only matrix-vector products. It improves upon standard randomized techniques by offering tighter bounds, especially for low-rank matrices, and shows better numerical performance across different matrix types.
