A binary black hole merger rate comparison within the same metallicity-star formation rate framework
The study tested binary black hole (BBH) merger rate predictions using various population synthesis models against observations, incorporating metallicity-dependent star formation rates. The results show a persistent tension: most models overpredict the observed merger rate density. This discrepancy is largely caused by the low-metallicity tail in galaxy populations and the choice of abundance measurements.
