Space and Time Cost of Continuous Rotations in Surface Codes
This work investigates efficient ways to implement continuous rotation gates within surface code architectures, which are a major hurdle for quantum algorithms. The authors explore techniques like catalyst towers, finding that they significantly reduce both the time cost and the total space required for rotations when using small to medium code distances. However, at very large distances, standard Clifford+T synthesis might be better.
