Toward Generalized Detection of Synthetic Media: Limitations, Challenges, and the Path to Multimodal Solutions
This study reviews twenty-four recent AI-generated media detection methods to identify common weaknesses, such as poor generalization across different generative models and failure with multimodal or highly modified content. The research concludes that traditional methods are limited, strongly suggesting a future direction toward developing robust, generalized multimodal deep learning models for more effective synthetic media defense.
