Quantum block encoding for one-pair semiseparable matrices

This work develops an efficient block encoding method for one-pair semiseparable matrices, which have a specific low-rank structure. The authors factorize these matrices into triangular and diagonal components and then efficiently encode each part using existing block encoding techniques. This results in an overall embedding into a larger unitary matrix in polylogarithmic time, offering significant speedup over classical methods for quantum linear algebra.
